AARON WILLIAM "DUB" RICE
APRIL 3, 1922 – AUGUST 4, 2010

Funeral services for Aaron William "Dub" Rice, 88, will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Blake Miller officiating. Visitation will be
Friday, August 6, 2010 from 6pm – 8pm at Norvel Owens Mortuary and 1 hour prior to services at the
church Relief Society Room. Internment will follow at Desert View Cemetery.

Dub went home to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning, August 4, 2010 with his beloved wife and
best friend and his 2 favorite girls Chica and Kaycee by his side. Dub was born April 3, 1922 in Texas to
Ivy and Nora Rice. He moved to Winslow in 1938 and worked for his uncle at Pollock & Pollock Coal
Co. until he joined the U. S. Army in 1940. During World War II he served in the 8th Calvary Division in the South Pacific Theater. Honorably discharged in 1945 he returned to Winslow where he was in the Army National Guard. He worked for ADOT before going to work for the Winslow Unified School
District as a Bus Driver, Custodian and Groundskeeper. Dub worked this job for 40 years, finally retiring
in 1998. He loved baseball and played for the Winslow Redskins and coached women's and high school
softball. He was an avid bowler attending many tournaments and holding many local and state offices.
He was a lifetime member of B.P.O. E. #536 and a member of the American Legion.
Dub loved to joke and kid and never met a stranger. Most important to him was his family and friends.
He enjoyed the many family BBQ's and just getting together in the mountains to camp, hunt and fish.

Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years Joy, 5 children – Nancy Hanno, Richard (Vickie) Rice,
Margaret (Steve) Tolbert, Jennie Barta and Darrel (Sandy) Rice, Sister - Sue Hays, Sister-in –law -
Suzie Carmody, Brother-in-law - Dave (Vanica) Caswell, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and
4 great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews including Richie (Barbara) Carmody and
JR (Jenna) Carmody and his 2 girls (dogs) Chica and Kaycee. He was preceded in death by his
Parents, Brother – Dale Rice, Sister – Edith Gabriel and the mother of his children Jeanette Sharar.

Dub will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
