Abel M. Carrillo

Born January 15th, 1935

Went to be with our Lord on March 20th, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Abel was born in St. Johns Arizona to Leandro B. Carrillo (Father) and Santana Carrillo (Mother).

He was one of 9 Children, with 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Abel served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956 and loved the American Flag, U.S. Army hats, rings and patches.

He worked at Jeld-Wen at the sawmill for over 20 years.

Abel had 9 children from his first marriage, Valerie, Jennifer, Alex, Leonard, Jeff, Michael, Francis Maria, Elizabeth and Annie.

On October 13th, 1969 Abel married the love of his life, Sadie, and they had 3 girls together, Annie (Richard) Walters, Stephanie (Lawrence) Ayala and Stella (Luis) Villegas. He also became a step father to Evelyn Sandoval, Mary Ann (Richard) Herrera, Lynn Sandoval, Gabriel Sandoval, Sandra (Eric) Broadston, and Lisa (Tony Alvillar). As well as helping to raise his grandson Tommy Sandoval.

Family was everything to Abel, and he was blessed with 41 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and over 100 nieces and nephews.

Abel loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, as well as visiting friends and family.

At home you could always find him watching a game on TV or eating the hottest chile, homemade tortillas and beans that Sadie had made for him.

In Abel's retirement years he enjoyed spending time at the casino.

He was a great man and will be missed by many.

Rosary will take place Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 pm, funeral mass will be Thursday, March 29th at 1:00 pm, both at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church, 1600 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, Arizona.
