Alice R. Slootmaker, aged 91, passed away on August 23, 2005. She was born April 12, 1914 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin to Edward Axel Carlson and Emma Ann Beck Carlson. She was married to Wilmarth "Willie" Shafer Slootmaker on October 28, 1939 in Ada, Michigan. Mrs. Slootmaker spent most of her life in Grand Rapids and Horton Bay, Michigan. She moved to Flagstaff in 1999 to be closer to her family. She was an avid reader and loved good food and friends. She is survived by her daughter Ann Beck (Novak) and granddaughter, Emma Beck Novak. She was preceded in death by her husband , Wilmarth, who passed away December 20, 1963. A memorial service will be held at The Peaks, Tuesday, August 30 at 3 pm. Burial will take place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to the Little Traverse Conservancy, Harbor Springs, Michigan.
