Obituary

Amy Snyder Tacey passed away peacefully at her home on Aug. 19, 2010 at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, surrounded by her family after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 14, 1965 in Murray, Utah, to Dr. Don S. Snyder and Linda Marousek Snyder. She graduated in 1984 from Hillcrest High School. In 1983, she won the 300-meter hurdles at the Track State Championship.

She married Dave Panu in 1989; later divorced. She married the love of her life, Dennis Tacey, in 2002. She worked as a dental assistant, waitress, model and bartender.

Amy loved hiking in the Grand Canyon, boating at Lake Powell, ATV trips, fishing, gardening, crocheting, photography and quilting, but most of all taking trips with her family. She was a member of the LDS church.

Amy was an amazing person and touched the lives of many people.

Survived by husband Dennis; children Zachary, Mason, Spencer and Grace; mother Linda; brothers Tim (Trude), Dan (Deborah) and Matt (Marnie); sisters Gretchen Hillman (Blair) and Heidi Weeks (Andrew) and special cousin Jay Caldwell (Vicki); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Loretta Tacey, Clarence Tacey, Cathy Winters (Aaron), Diane Castille (Jose) and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her father, grandparents, and her aunt Elaine.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at the Shrine of Ages at the South Rim. Family and friends may visit prior to the services, from 4-5 p.m., at the Shrine of the Ages.

Interment will follow at the Grand Canyon Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Norvel Owens Mortuary.
