To My Family
By Arlene (Karlberg) Potter
When you hear the news that I am gone, Rejoice! Like Dwight L. Moody once said, "When you hear that I am dead, don't believe a word of it because I am more alive than I ever was!"
I was born on February 18, 1928 at our family farm home near Sumner Nebraska. I joined my two brothers, Leland and Maurice.
My spiritual life began in Sumner NE when I was 8 years old. I was attending Vacation Bible School, and my class was taught by my Aunt Mabel (Karlberg). The details of the invitation and my accepting Lord Jesus Christ that day are very clear and special to me.
As a sophomore in high school, 16 years old, I realized my need to making Christ the Lord over all my life. I made that commitment and always lived my life for the Lord from then on.
My most enjoyable Christian work was teaching Good News Clubs and Sunday School classes for over 60 years. I prayed that the words of the Lord would cling to the minds and hearts of each of the children I had taught.
I worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Sayles in Overton Nebraska for 7 years. Lovell Potter and I were married on October 3, 1950. Our commitment lasted 62 years, until April 9, 2012 when Lovell passed away. I had three living sons, Jerry, Rodney and Robert who survived me at my death. Two of my other sons passed away at birth.
My 3 boys and their spouses, Jackie, Carolyn, and Debbie, six grandchildren, 22 great-grand children and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
I can rest in peace knowing Psalms 22:30 (Living Bible) holds true. "Our children too shall serve Him, for they shall hear from us the wonders of the Lord. Generations yet unborn shall hear of all of the miracles. He died for us."
