Art
Gandler
Aug 15, 1953 — Aug 13, 2024
Flagstaff
Art Gandler, born August 15, 1953, at Ramstein Air Force Base in Landstuhl, Germany, passed away peacefully after a life well-lived. As the son of a U.S. Army serviceman, Art spent his early years in Syracuse, New York, before moving to Phoenix in the 1960s. His teenage years were marked by a passion for working on and restoring vintage Model T cars with friends.
In the late 1960s, Art met the love of his life Connie at McDonald's, and the two quickly married. They immersed themselves in the family business, with Art pursuing his private pilot's license to enhance their growing furniture empire. Together with Connie and his father Jerry, Art helped establish Gandler's Furniture in Flagstaff, Arizona. His business acumen and dedication to customer service propelled Gandler's Furniture to become the top furniture retailer in Northern Arizona.
After retiring in 1997, Art and Connie devoted their time to their children, rarely missing a game or event. Following Connie's passing in 2014, Art embraced his role as a devoted grandfather. Art then met Sue Zimmerman and they cherished their time together.
Art's interests included fast cars, aviation, fishing, scuba diving, hiking the Grand Canyon, cooking, playing cards, coaching baseball, and volunteering for Toys for Tots. He lived life to the fullest, always ready to lend a hand or share his wisdom with family and friends.
Art is remembered for his love of life, his unwavering support for his family, and his zest for adventure. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Art is survived by his sons Greg and Tim, and his daughter Katie. Their spouses, Laurel, Kim, and William. His grandchildren Lane, Carter, Daphne, Cameron, Graham, Mackenzie, and Abigail. Finally, his partner of four years, Sue Zimmerman.
