Obituary

Arvel Lee Bryant passed away at her home in Flagstaff, AZ on October 9, 2007 at age 86. She was born in Ralls, Texas on September 17, 1921, the second child pf Alford Alton Melton and Lucy Wammack Melton. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, sister Ina Melton Val Dalsem and brother Alford Melton, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Lamar Bryant, and her six children: Beverly Lean Bryant Lawrence and husband C. Tod Lawrence of Cottonwood, AZ. Charles Lamar Bryant, Jr, and wife Patricia Dawson Bryant of Gypsum, CO, Barbara Ann Bryant Latham of Flagstaff, AZ, Arvel Lynn Bryant of Pinedale, AZ, Robert Curtis Bryant of Richmond, MO, and James Stephen Bryant and wife Carman Dodd Bryant of Burkburnett, TX. Arvel Lee and Lamar have 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Arvel Lee came to Arizona at age 18 and began working in the office of a lumber mill in Overgaard, AZ where she met Lamar. She devoted most of her life to being a wife and homemaker and mother to her 6 children. She lived in Happy Jack, AZ a number of years, and then the family moved to Flagstaff which has been her home since 1955. After her children were grown, Arvel Lee worked several years as a bookkeeper before retiring. Arvel Lee was an avid reader. She always wanted to learn more, and one of her greatest accomplishments was to see all he children finish high school. Her hobbies and interests included music, dancing, gardening, and hunting and fishing with her husband and sons. She also liked bargain hunting at yard sales, In her life, she took up art and proved to be a wonderful painter. She is well known by family and friends for her good cooking, exceptional hospitality and wonderful sense of humor. Arvel Lee will be greatly missed by her family and friends, her children know they have lost their greatest helper, confidant and friend. She was always there for them.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45. The service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Linda Vista Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, Arizona 86002.
