BARBARA KAY "BK" SAMMIS AUSTIN

Barbara Sammis Austin passed away in Flagstaff, surrounded by her loving family, on December 30th, 2010 after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 27th, 1938 in Seattle, WA. She moved to Flagstaff with her family in 1943, and then they moved to Tennessee. She met the love of her life, Grady Austin, in Tennessee and they were married in Mississippi on July 12th, 1953. They moved to Flagstaff where she and Grady raised their two sons, Gary and Dino Austin. She was employed as an operator for Mountain Bell for 14 years. She was known for her kindness and generosity, she was a wonderful, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She loved to spend time at the horse races with her sisters. She will be dearly missed.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Grady Austin, her son Gary (Kathleen) Austin, Flagstaff; Dino (Ruth) Austin, Flagstaff; her sisters Pat Tuttle, Prescott; Norma Burnett, Prescott; Margaret Olheiser, Sedona; 4 granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

By her request no services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers she requested any donations be made to the charity of your choice.
