Boyd LaMel Westover was born in Winslow, Arizona on August 29, 1942 to Russell and Merle Westover and passed away September 4, 2017 at his home in Joseph City, Arizona. Boyd grew up in Joseph City where he attended school until his last two years where he attended Holbrook High School, graduating from there in 1960. He attended college for a semester at BYU Provo and then transferred to ASU for a semester. He then returned home and met and married Judy Ann Hancock of Taylor, Arizona in 1962. They raised their family of six children in this community that they loved so much. He started working at APS Cholla Power Plant in 1962 and worked there for over 30 years. His wife, Judy, suffered an untimely death in 1996. Following the sudden death of his wife Judy, he married Marlene Allen of Taylor on August 11, 2001. Marlene brought six children of her own to the marriage to help double Boyd's Westover crew. About a year and a half later they brought one more addition to tie these two families together. Little baby boy Colter was brought into this world in 2003.

Throughout the years he has served in many different capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a spiritual man who loved quietly serving others. Boyd had a very strong ethic of hard work and was constantly working on something. Whether it was "on the job" working at the power plant, running his heavy equipment from his construction company "Westover Construction", taking care of his farm at Penzance (with many unending hours of irrigation and water turns, planting & plowing, and raising his horses and cows), at his properties in town where he would stay busy milking his cows and taking care of his many other animals and gardens. He was very self-sufficient and always wanted to be prepared. He was also involved in many community and civic responsibilities as well, including the irrigation board, school board and water board over the years.

The family likes to joke that "Grandpa/Dad" was the foreman of the family projects whether it be gardening, construction or dirt work. He was always willing to lend a hand and loved helping family. He was very soft spoken with a wonderful sense of humor, even in tough times he tried to keep things light. Some of his happiest memories were hunting and camping trips with good friends and his family. Ranching and farming at his farm at Penzance was his biggest and most time consuming hobby, but he loved every minute of it. Boyd especially loved being in the outdoors with his family and cooking over an open fire.

Boyd had many friends, he was a friend to all.

He is survived by his wife Marlene, his four sons Kurt (Cathy) Westover, Kenny (Jennifer) Westover, Rusty (Ivette) Westover, Colter Westover, and three daughters Kerri (Johnny) Johnson, Kathy (Richard) Owens, Mitzi (Matt) Click, and 24 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Marlene's 6 children and 18 grandchildren, (Troy) Black family, Cami (Arvin) Collinwood family, Billy (Amanda) Maxwell, Rhonda (Jed) Bigler family, Heath (Hope) Maxwell family, Jamie (Jake) Burt family. Siblings, Analee (Theo - deceased) Hunsaker, Gloria (Ken) Murphy, Carolyn (Tom) Goodman, Conley - deceased (Nancy) Westover, Neil (Denise) Westover, Larry (Diane) Westover, Alisa - deceased (Joe) Childers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Hancock Westover, his mother and father (Russell & Merle Westover), brother (Conley Westover), and little sister (Alisa Childers), great granddaughter (Berkley Eden) and Marlene's daughter (Tricia Black).

Services will be held at the Joseph City LDS Church. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at and Saturday morning 9-9:45., Funeral services will follow Saturday morning, September 9th at 10:00 am. Interment will conclude services at Joseph City Cemetery.
