Bruce 'Dex' Behrens
Flagstaff, AZ-Bruce Ray Behrens, died at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, in Flagstaff, Arizona. Bruce was born August 19, 1955, in Huron, South Dakota, to Mary Lea and Dexter Behrens. Bruce grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, graduating from Rapid City Stevens High School in 1974. He moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he worked for Northern Arizona University for the past 21-1/2 years.
Surviving Bruce is his sister, Janet Tischler, Rapid City; a nephew, Jayson Tischler, Chicago, Illinois; his uncle, Ray Miller of Sacred Heart, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lea and Dexter, and his grandparents, Earl and Gladys Miller and Donald and Ella Behrens.
Bruce was a dedicated employee and a loyal friend. In nearly every aspect of his life, he proved dependable, tireless and selfless. From a young age, he embraced an outdoor, self-reliant lifestyle. Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and relaxing with his friends. Bruce will live on through his family and friends who deeply loved and respected him.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1, from 1;00 p.m. to 3;00 p.m. at the Norvel Owens Mortuary in Flagstaff, Arizona. Services will be held on Monday February, 2, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Norvel Owens Mortuary with a memorial service to be held in Rapid City, South Dakota.
