Carl Schlimmermeyer, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Thursday, January 28, just two days shy of his 84th birthday. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Carl enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17. He fought valiantly in WWII and earned many honors, including a purple heart in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from the war, he earned an engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, in New Jersey.

He met the love of his life, Terri, at Macy's, in New York City, and was married for 53 happy years. He was a successful appliance salesman for Magic Chef for many years. In 1982, he and Terri moved to Sedona, Arizona, and Carl became a realtor. He was a master gardener and a passionate golfer, who loved and appreciated the outdoors. While living at the Peaks for the past two years, he served on the Council, and enjoyed playing poker with his buddies. He was friendly to everyone and loved being with people.

He is survived by his wife, Terri, his daughter and son-in-law Gretchen and Matt Markiewicz, and his grandsons Justin (wife, Kasey) and Ian Markiewicz. A memorial service will be held at the Peaks Senior Living Community on Monday, February 1st, at 2 pm with private burial at the National Veterans' Cemetery in Cave Creek.
