Obituary

Casimiro Alonso passed away on January 3, 2009 at the age of 83. He was born in Hontoria del Pinar, Spain on March 4, 1925 and arrived in the United States in 1952 where he worked herding sheep in Arizona and Utah. He also worked for Southwest Lumber Company and many years as a construction worker. He arrived in Flagstaff, Arizona from Utah in 1958 and resided for several months with his uncle and aunt Luis and Francisca De Miguel. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and going in search of firewood. He was a friend to many, and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Casimiro is survived by his loving wife Viola with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 22, 2008. He is also survived by his daughters; Laura Zinke and Teresa (Jay) Wallace, two grandchildren; Brandon and Brooke Wallace, brothers Marcelino (Spain), Vitoriano (Flagstaff), Isidoro (California), Carmelo (Spain) and Tito (Flagstaff) and a sister; Laurentina (Spain) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugenio Alonso and Felisa De Miguel, his brothers Pablo and Lucio and his son-in-law Doc Zinke. Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 224 South Kendrick, Flagstaff, Arizona. Burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.
