Christine Shipley, 62, longtime resident of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away peacefully March 22, 2008 with family and friends by her side. She was born July 31, 1945 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Jay and Virginia Shipley. She lived in this area for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and twin brothers, who died shortly after birth. She is survived by her sister, Anne Shipley of Amelia, Ohio (formerly of Flagstaff), her paternal aunt, Mrs. Bonnie Lewis of Flagstaff, her sister's husband, Doug Jilg of Amelia Ohio (formerly of Flagstaff), her niece, Sally Shipley-Jilg of Portland, Oregon (formerly of Flagstaff), her nephew, Sam Shipley-Jilg of Batavia, Ohio (formerly of Flagstaff), and many, many friends.
For the past year she was a participant in the day program and resident in a group home affiliated with the Hozhoni Foundation. It was one of the happiest times of her life and her art work was very well received by the community.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel, 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, Arizona. Family burial services will be conducted in Hamilton, Ohio at a later date. The family wishes to express their very sincere gratitude to the staff at Flagstaff Medical Center Intensive Care Unit for their thoughtful and tender care of Christine these last two weeks. The family also wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the Hozhoni Foundation for giving Christine a loving and joyful experience the last year of her life.
