Connie Jensen, of Flagstaff, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2010 at the Olivia White Hospice House at the age of 79. Connie was born January 21, 1931 in Ames, Iowa to Harry and Elvie Bowman, moved to Texas during High School and then attended Texas A & I. She married Bob Jensen and moved to Flagstaff in June 1961. Connie received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Northern Arizona University and taught 4th grade at Marshall Elementary School from 1963 until she retired in 1989. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Jensen.

She is survived by her brother Trent Bowman; daughters Judi Anderson and Betty Gobeil (Norm); five grandchildren Ryan Brock (Amanda), Amber Katich (Steve), Jessica Boyce (Daniel), Jennifer Mageary (James), and Jeff Gobeil (Misty); and eight great grandchildren.

Connie was an inspiration to others and she will be remembered for her caring and helpfulness to others, her keen mental skills and memory and the many travels she took with family and friends. She was a longtime, active member of Federated Community Church, Beta Sigma Phi (Alpha Alpha Chapter), Phi Delta Kappa education fraternity, Phi Beta Phi, Flagstaff Ski Club and helping the scouts of Troop 33 earn their merit badges.

There will be a celebration of Connie's life at Federated Community Church on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. with a reception immediately following in Rees Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Federated Church FYF Missions Fund at 400 W. Aspen St. Flagstaff, AZ 86001 or to Northland Hospice P.O. Box 997 Flagstaff, AZ 86002 are appreciated.
