Connie Marie Sabo-Walker, 47, formerly of Flagstaff, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

Mrs. Sabo-Walker was born March 21, 1940, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to the late August Harry Sabo and Amelia Sabo-Tackett. She was the youngest of five children. Mrs. Sabo-Walker was awarded Associate of Arts degrees in psychology and administration of justice from Ventura Community College. She also served honorably in the Woman's Army Corps.

She had a rich, full singing voice that she used in off-Broadway musicals. She recorded a CD titled "Connie Sabo, Ft. McClellan Live: The Early Years."

Apart from her professional singing career, she was probably most pleased with the volunteer work she did ministering through song to prisoners in jails and prisons. Accomplished as well in painting and in writing, her house and many other homes are filled with her landscape paintings that were painstakingly created stroke by stroke.

She will be missed by all those that knew and loved her. Hebrews 14:14 "For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come."

Mrs. Sabo-Walker is survived by sisters Betty Gillespie of Gobles, Mich., and Edna Heggstrom, of Kingman; loving husband Harold "Dean" Walker, of Tucson; children Renae Marie Messner, Richard Scott Giberti, Michael August Giberti and Melanie Catherine Sieker; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Sabo, of Flagstaff; and Yvonne Sabo-Haralson, of Safford.

A gathering of family and friends will be today at 1 p.m. at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with burial following at Citizens Cemetery.
