Cortney Edward Smith

Cortney Edward Smith, 53, born in Olean, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Mr. Smith relocated from Pennsylvania to New Mexico at the age of 10 with his parents, Robert & Charlotte Smith, and his sister. A public school teacher for 23 years, Cortney found he loved teaching computer usage to people of all ages. He and his wife raised three wonderful children before co-founding an internet access company in Gallup, NM. Most recently, Cortney found a new interest and career in the medical field. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, electronics, hiking, reading, and most of all being with his family. Cortney recently became a grandfather and found he loved being 'Bumpah' to his grandchildren. He represented the absolute best as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law and friend, and is much loved and will be deeply missed. Cortney is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 32 years, Tracy Smith, sister Marcia Smith of Mesa, son Ben Smith of San Diego, CA, daughters Amanda Compton of Champaign, IL, and Alichar Smith of Mesa, AZ, and three beautiful grandchildren. Cortney's family also included Dennis, Jenn, Jennifer and Michelle, whom he loved very much. Services will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 1 pm at Norvel Owens Mortuary in Flagstaff, AZ.
