David Boyer Hall, 84 of Flagstaff, passed away on November 16, 2011. David was born August 19, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, moving to Allentown, PA when he was 4 years old.

Upon finishing High School, David joined the Marine Corp in 1945. After completing his 1st stint, David joined the Marine Reserves. While in the active Reserves, David attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, working three summers as a lifeguard at the "shore" in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Working his way to Captain of the Lifeguards, David became a local hero, as reported by The "New York Times", when he and another lifeguard rescued 7 nuns who were swept out to sea in September 1950. David re-entered active service with the Marines in 1951 and was one of the first divisions shipped out to Korea, spending 145 straight days "on line", being there to "take the Punch Bowl" and having the heel of his boot shot off by a sniper. David remained fiercely proud of being a Marine all the days of his life. Returning from Korea, David became one of the first Marines to attend Lehigh University, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

While attending Lehigh on the GI bill he "studied for the first time" and graduated in the upper tenth of his class. Upon graduation from Lehigh, David received 11 job offers, accepting a position with Alcoa Corporation. A year later, the opportunity came along and David moved to Tucson, Arizona with his wife Betty in October 1955 to join his brother-in-law, Norman McClelland, to work for Shamrock Dairy. After living in Arizona for 6 months David told everyone he met that "he loved Arizona so much, he wished he would have been born here". David's career with Shamrock spanned 37 years, retiring from the day-to-day operations in 1992, remaining on Shamrock's Board of Directors. David always recounted how fortunate he was to work with so many quality individuals that he respected and admired, as well as working for such a wonderful company as Shamrock and was exceedingly proud of his accomplishments at Shamrock Foods Company, prouder still to be a part of the "Shamrock family".

David enjoyed scuba diving, golf, skiing and was a vivacious traveler. He travelled to over 70 countries with repeated trips to favorite destinations in the Caribbean and Ireland. David learned to play golf before the age of 6, he held a single digit handicap for many years and golfed into his 81st year. David held memberships and made many friendships over the years at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona, Inverness Golf Club in Englewood, Colorado, Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona and Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona.

David was a gentleman, always opening doors and holding chairs, he never left his hat on indoors and was the first to stand when a lady entered the room. His respect and admiration for his friends and fellow workers was returned in kind and David will be remembered for his leadership and friendship.

David is survived by his wife Jeanne, daughters Danna Harvey and Leslie Hall, son Jeff Hall, son-in-law Jim Harvey, grandchildren Jameson and Meredith Harvey, stepchildren Bill, Scott and Debbie Cowling, nephews; Kent McClelland, Don Sandler, and Spenser Wolken, nieces; Kathe McClelland and Jessica Wolken. Father and Mother-in-law Fred & Carol Wolken, Brother's-in-law; Norman McClelland, Dan & Fred Wolken Jr. Proceeded in death by sister Jane Sandler Dotson. We are eternally grateful for the loving & respectful care given David in his final journey.
