Derek Steven Drouin, known lovingly by friends and family as "Big Happy," passed away on April 20, 2026, in Flagstaff, Arizona, after suffering a heart attack. He was 41 years old. Born on January 2, 1985, in Orange, California, Derek lived a life that was true to his nickname. He was a man who radiated joy wherever he went, greeting everyone with genuine warmth and an infectious smile. If you were lucky enough to know Derek, you knew someone who was always happy, endlessly kind, and generous to his core. He was truly a wonderful friend, the kind of person who made everyone around him feel welcome and valued. Derek loved nothing more than being surrounded by people. He had a gift for bringing folks together, for turning any gathering into a celebration, and for making sure nobody ever felt left out. His laughter was contagious, and his spirit was magnetic. He was, in every sense, the life of the party. Above all, Derek carried love for his children in his heart. Derek is survived by his three beloved children, along with the countless friends and family members whose lives he touched so deeply. A viewing will be held at Norvel Owens Mortuary on Thursday, April 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A ceremony will follow on Friday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m., with burial immediately after at Citizens' Cemetery Flagstaff .
