Diane Sue Koehn, 75, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at
Aspire Transitional Care. A celebration of life service will take place at New Hope Rising Church
on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
Born in Montezuma, Kansas, on May 16, 1951, Diane attended school in Montezuma and went
on to nurse's training in Dodge City, Kansas. She married Willard Koehn from Ingalls, Kansas on
August 13, 1972. Diane spent 46 years in the medical field, starting as a Candy Striper at Bethel
Home in Montezuma at age 16. After completing her RN training, Diane worked as a registered
nurse at Dodge City hospital, Greeley, Colorado hospital, and ended her career at Flagstaff
Medical Center. Diane's entire life was truly one of service. Not only was she an exceptional
nurse, caring for individuals from all walks of life, she continued serving after retirement. She
and her husband, Will, joined SOWERS (Servants on Wheels, Ever Ready), an organization that
served youth and Christian camps. Diane cleaned, cooked, and even sewed costumes while
Will helped with maintenance and carpentry. Diane and Will also volunteered countless hours at
the food pantry, picking up donated food from grocery stores and delivering it to the pantry
weekly.
Diane loved to sew and used her skills to help others. She sewed thousands of feminine
hygiene kits for Girls Matter Period, even traveling to South Africa twice to help distribute the kits
that allowed young girls to attend school. She delighted in meeting the girls and teaching them
the skills of hygiene. Not only did Diane care for many of the less fortunate, she made countless
blankets and quilts for friends and family. Her great-nieces and -nephews were the excited
recipients of her handiwork.
Diane was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 54 years, Willard Koehn,
her brother Cecil and wife Karen of Ft. Collins, Colorado, sister-in-law Kathy of Montezuma,
Kansas, sister, Debra and husband Richard Koehn of Montezuma, Kansas, and many cousins,
nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Betty Mae
Koehn, and her brother, Bob.
Diane's passing has left a huge hole in our family and community but leaves us with a legacy
that will not be forgotten. We will meet again in heaven.
