Donald Frankel
Don Frankel, a Flagstaff resident of over 25 years, died unexpectedly on January 5th of a massive brain hemorrhage.
Born in Phoenix in 1943, Don graduated from North High in 1961 and attended Phoenix College. His passions included music, skiing, sailing and road trips via motorcycle or his vintage MGA. These interests led to many years of ski instructing at the Snow Bowl, the organizing of the annual Flagstaff Air Force Telluride Ski Club and charter sailing tours of San Diego, Tahiti, and Caribbean waters. Of special note, Don brought to Flagstaff the annual Jimmie Heuga Ski Express Benefit for Multiple Sclerosis.
Most recently, as an Agent/Realtor with McCracken Realty, Don was enthusiastic in meeting his clients' needs and in befriending them. Don is especially remembered for his ability to include plenty of humor in each transaction, whether professional or personal. He brought joy to many, many lives and was loved by all the lives he touched.
Don is survived by his son Brian (Buzz), daughter-in-law Dori, grandsons Coren and Austin, siblings Mick, Greg, Karen and Teresa, and uncle Lewis (Bunny) Bruce.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Weatherford Hotel's Zane Grey Ballroom on Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 8:00.
