Donald C. Reid, 58, died May 29, 2011 at Kachina Point Care Center in Sedona Arizona of complications related to early onset Alzheimer's disease. He was born November 5, 1953 in Owensboro KY.
He spent his early years in Evansville Indiana where he was very involved with the YMCA and served as a camp counselor. He also was involved in high school track and church youth group activities.
Don attended NAU. While at NAU he was involved with the Campus Crusade for Christ and served in California on a mission trip. After graduation, he taught biology and chemistry at Apollo High School, where he enjoyed having an afterschool bike club with the students. He continued his education at Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland OR and worked as a trial attorney in Portland OR for many years. He also enjoyed building homes and was the general contractor for several beautiful homes in the Portland area.
Don lived an active life style, enjoying mountain biking, hiking, scuba diving, skiing and weight training. He also loved to travel and visited China, Germany, Thailand, Guatemala, Mexico, and throughout the United States. He loved to pilot his small airplane for short trips in the western US.
He is survived by his parents, Tom and Ruth Reid; his wife Mai; his seven children, Matthew, Rebecca, Julia, Erin, Chad, Emery, and John; grandson Jamiah; his brother Ken (Suzanne)and sister Barbara (Walt); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held on Friday at 4 pm at the First Congregational Church of Flagstaff.
