Dorothy Marie Ziemba, 86, a resident of The Peaks Assisted Living Center, died at Flagstaff Medical Center on March 28, 2007, because of shock from a gastrointestinal hemorrhage.

She was the widow of Harry Jerome Ziemba, who died Oct. 10, 1979, and who was the love of her life. She was born in Clinton, Ill., daughter of the late Viola Pearl and Howard Lee Mills. She graduated from high school despite her father's belief girls didn't need to be educated. In 1941 she and her sister moved to Denver. It wasn't long, however, until her entire family moved from Illinois to Colorado.

As a wife and mother, she took great pride in her family and home. Her home furnishing and decor reflected great style, and she designed and artistically landscaped back and front yard gardens. Her outgoing personality and friendly nature drew many friends of all ages to her. She was an avid bingo player and sometimes would play at weekend marathon sessions. Her greatest joy in life was her young children, her only grandson and her adoring husband. She was very spiritual and gained strength through her faith.

Survived by two daughters, Linda D. Rothchild of Fairview Park, Ohio, and longtime Flagstaff resident, Carol S. Brim. She is also survived by one grandson, one great-grandson, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Donald Lee Mills; sister, Lois LaPhan; and younger brother, Bernard Gene Mills, all from Colorado.

A memorial service is being planned in Denver at Fort Logan National Cemetery in June, where she will be reunited with the love of her life.
