Douglas Jay Miller (Doug) of Flagstaff, Arizona passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 81. Born on November 2, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa to Charles and Marion Miller.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Jo Anne and their daughters Deborah (Jim) Campbell of Prescott, Arizona and Candace (Rob) Bobkiewicz of Star, Idaho; cherished granddaughter Riley Bobkiewicz of Star, Idaho; sister MaryAnne (Richard) Koke of St. John, Indiana and his niece Beth Anne (Ed) Tigges also of St. John, Indiana. Doug leaves behind many cousins and friends.

Doug was an Eagle Scout. He attended John Carroll University in Ohio before he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963 where he served honorably for two years.

Doug and Jo Anne married in December, 1966 and moved to Pasadena, California where they started their family. A few years later Doug moved the family to Glendora, California. He spent many years working in the newspaper advertising business in the Los Angeles, California area before moving to Flagstaff, Arizona full time in 2001.

Doug enjoyed many wonderful years fishing in the High Sierras around Bishop, California with his family, but cruising became his true love. Doug and Jo Anne enjoyed many years of traveling together. They traveled all over the world on over 50 cruises.

In his spare time, Doug enjoyed spending days out in the peaceful woods around Flagstaff collecting antler sheds. He enjoyed cooking wonderful meals, often taking hours to plan and prepare them. He kept busy with projects around the house, writing letters to the editor for the local newspaper and working on puzzles He always enjoyed his weekly trips to the local grocery stores in town to visit with some of his favorite employees that he called his "friends."

True to the Scout Motto, Doug loved his family and country fiercely and always flew a flag at every opportunity. He will be greatly missed.
