Edith Cline Leadbetter, 90, resident of Flagstaff, AZ, passed away January 7, 2009 at Flagstaff Medical Center, surrounded by family.

Edith was born November 19, 1918, in Mancos, CO, the daughter of the late Gilbert Timothy and Jessie Hatfield Baker Cline. She was the middle child of 4 siblings. She married Merton K. Leadbetter in the late 1930's. The couple moved to Flagstaff in the late 1940's.

Edith lead a full and some might say, very adventurous life, raising five sons and one granddaughter. She had a unique perspective on life, characterized by her strong will and tenacious opinions. One thing you could count on, amidst her commanding presence was her inspired ability to love her family. She was the definitive matriarch of the family who did an almost unbelievable job, given the size of the family, of keeping it together. She touched the lives of many people and one can only hope to live a life as full and as influential as hers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton; a son, Bud; a grandson, Timothy; brothers, Platt and Fred Cline; her sister, Elizabeth Nagley; and a daughter-in-law, Erin. She is survived by sons Bruce (daughter-in-law, Anne) of Dallas, TX; Timothy (daughter-in-law Diana) of Matthews, NC; Thomas of Tucson, AZ; Daniel (daughter-in-law Jacque) of Indianapolis, IN; fourteen (14) grandchildren and seventeen (17) great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13th, at Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff. Memorial services, will take place on the same day at 2:00 pm at the Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66. All who knew Edith are welcome to join the family at the memorial service followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Northland Hospice, P.O.
