Edwin Allen Darnell, 47, of Flagstaff, passed away June 2, 2011. He was born May 24, 1964 in Grand Forks, ND to Richard and Anita Darnell. Growing up he enjoyed spending summers on the farm in Iowa and football. As a youth, Edwin enjoyed baseball, boy scouts, fishing with his dad, motorcycles and tinkering with his car. He graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering, OH after which he attended Wright State University and Northern Arizona University. Mr. Darnell loved cooking and the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He loved computers and loved Star Wars and Star Trek. Mr. Darnell was an active member of the community and served as past-president of Citizens Against Substance Abuse (CASA). While volunteering with CASA he assisted in bringing in lots of support from many organizations as well as helping establish the Celebrate Youth Day. He was an active member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church for years. Mr. Darnell was a longtime employee in good standing of Westcore/Macerich, where he worked for 15+ years.

Mr. Darnell is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter Katarina, and his sons Tyler and Riley. He is also survived by his mother Anita Darnell of Bluffton, OH; grandmother Evelyn Darnell of West Union, IA; his sister Chris (Joe) Mattice of Jenera, OH and her children Kevin (Holly), Lauren, and Jordan; sister Margo (Mike) France of Lebanon, OH and her child Madison; his uncle Gary (Nancy) McIntyre of Iowa and his children Heather, Allison and Ben; his uncle Dirk Darnell of Maryland; his aunt Dorothy McIntyre of Edina, MN; his aunt Kay Dempsy of West Union, IA and her children Dana, Lisa, Theresa, and Christopher; his aunt Lynn Darnell, of Iowa; his aunt Jill Darnell of Iowa and his mother-in-law Joyce MacNab. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Darnell; grandfather Vern Darnell; grandparents Earl and Gertrude McIntyre; father-in-law Murray MacNab and brother-in-law Scott MacNab.

Memorial Services will take place Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 3600 N. Fourth St. Flagstaff, Arizona 86001. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Eddie Darnell Benefit Account, Wells Fargo account #5841620635.
