Edythe "Judy " Schmahl, 90 Beloved friend and member of the Bahai Faith passed away October 27, 2007 at her home in Flagstaff.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and her two husbands. Col. Jack Jackson was killed near the end of the war. Leonard Schmahl passed away in Flagstaff, AZ November 1981. Judy lived as a widow for the last 27 years of her life.

Judy was born in Los Angeles in 1917. Judy was a very capable and independent woman. As a young woman she worked for the navy air force base as a Red Cross worker from l94l - 1942 at this time she met and married Col. Jack Jackson. They made their home in Chile South America for many years. Chile was a place she always wanted to return to. As a Navy wife she traveled to many places with Jack. Upon his death she returned to
California and continued her career as a seamstress, pattern maker, and designer of hats. Judy excelled in these areas. A few years later is when she met Leonard Schmahl a handsome young man in the shoe dept. They were married and eventually ended up in Flagstaff, AZ, where they spent the remainder of their time.

Judy was a Rebecca at the Odd Fellows Hall, for years. She participated in the lodge activities and became a long time member. She enjoyed the bunko games that the singles clubs had. Judy was always very active in the Bahai Faith. She would teach about the faith to anyone that would listen. Judy was an avid reader. She enjoyed reading passages from the Bahai writings some of which she could recite from heart. Judy was a member of the local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahais of Coconino East. She will be missed by her Bahai family.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 Friday, November 2, 2007 at Citizens Cemetery.
