Mary Elizabeth Dobrinski (Wallace) better known as Elizabeth, Grammy, Big E, etc. was born December 6, 1923 in Flagstaff, Arizona. She passed away November 13, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. Elizabeth was born into a pioneering family with deep roots in Flagstaff and the surrounding areas. She was the youngest of 5 and grew up with extended family and friends surrounding her. She graduated from Flagstaff High School and went on to attend Arizona Normal School (now known as NAU). She met Maurice Dobrinski, the love of her life, in the summer of 1942. They fell in love and were married just 7 weeks later on October 10th, 1942. They had 58 wonderful years together. Over the years, they were blessed with 4 children, David (Vickie), Lorinda (Tom), John (Sharon) and Daniel, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. They made their home in Flagstaff and were extremely involved in the community as a whole. Her years of commitment to 4-H, DAR and many other faith-based and civic organizations allowed her to impact countless lives. Elizabeth worked for the Arizona Daily Sun and Northland Press but spent most of her work years at the Museum of Northern Arizona as administrative assistant to the director. She valued family, loved to travel and was caretaker to all. She loved gardening, sewing and cooking. Her soup and cinnamon rolls could bring people in from miles around. Elizabeth was a strong woman who lived independently until just 2 years prior to her passing. She was a role model to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, Maurice, and their first born son David. Being the last of her siblings to pass, Elizabeth often joked that she could rewrite family history because no one was around to tell her she was wrong. She is survived by her remaining 3 children Lorinda, John and Dan, her daughter-in-laws Vickie (Dobrinski) Howell and Sharon Dobrinski, son-in-law Tom Conner, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and many extended family members as well as countless friends, neighbors and "shirt-tail" relatives. We will all miss her greatly! Visitation will be held Thursday November 17th at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ, from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be Friday November 18th at 10am at Federated Community Church, 400 W. Aspen, Flagstaff, AZ. Followed by a short graveside service at Flagstaff Citizens Cemetery, 1300 S. San Francisco St, Flagstaff. We will gather to share stories and food in the fellowship hall at Federated church following the graveside service. Elizabeth requested that memorials be made to Federated Church in lieu of flowers.
