Ellen Lee Cody passed away early morning of June 19, 2009 at Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born on March 14, 1919 at Tsin tsaa'bii'toh (Box Canyon) located northwest of Grand Falls west of Leupp, Arizona. Her maternal clan is Todi ch'iinii and paternal clan is Tlizilani. Her parents were Hosteen and Lorraine Tso who preceded her in death by several years. Her surviving siblings are Alex Riggs Sr. and Dorothy Tso Cody, and other siblings who preceded her in death are Bertha Smith, Pete Riggs Sr. and Nora Cody.

Her surviving children are Bettie Silversmith, Herman L. Cody, Esther Frejo, Ruby L. Cody and Lillian L. Cody and Four Grand children Joel, Arlis and Kevin Silversmith and Lionel Riggs.

Ellen lived most of her life near the Navajo Nation boundry, about 15 miles south of Grand Falls. She will be greatly missed by her children, relatives and friends. A viewing will be held Monday June 22, 2009 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Norvel Owens Mortuary. The funeral will be at her home church where she was a member for many years Round Cedar church of the Nazarene on June 23, 2009 at 10:00am (MST).
