Ellerine (Ellie) E. Jacobs, 77, died Monday, 11/26/2012, at Flagtaff Medical Center. She was surrounded by loving family when she passed to peaceful and final rest. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl N. Popham, and her second husband, Waldamor W. Jacobs, and one step-son (Carl Popham). She is survived by two daughters, (Betsy) Elizabeth (Joe) Pulliam of Great Falls, Montana, and (Snooky) Marilyn Popham of Flagstaff, Arizona, three grandchildren, Herman, Amy and Vicky, and six great-grandchildren.

Born in 1935 in Ironwood, Michigan, Ellie was a proud "Yooper" although she lived in Arizona (Chino Valley and Kachina Village) for the past 35 years. She cared for others her entire life, as a daughter, mother, LPN, and social worker in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and a generous and caring neighbor and friend to many who will miss her humor and amazing "sisu" (a Finnish word). Prior to retirement, she and friends operated Windrock Aviation, an air tour company at the Grand Canyon, when they weren't enjoying camping, hunting and hiking the dogs.

Her daughters are inviting friends and family to share memories at an open house on Friday, 11/30/2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at 2398 Star Mountain Trail in Kachina Village, just south of Flagstaff.

No one can remember a time when Ellie did not have at least one dog, sometimes as many as four, whom she adopted or who adopted her. Therefore, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Coconino Humane Association, 3501 E Butler Ave, Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
