Ernest Henderson, 85 went to be with the Lord on June 5th, 2022. Born April 4, 1937 in Olive Hill, KY, he was the son of Ulysses and Rebecca (Hall) Henderson. He was a foreman for Mansfield Flooring and Dayton Floors. In 1984 he moved to Phoenix, AZ to work for Kokosing Construction during the big freeway construction boom of that time. He played basketball while in school and continued to be an avid sports fan for the rest of his life. He read his bible daily and was always eager to have conversations about the stories and teachings in scripture. Beyond that, his greatest love was his wife, family and grandchildren, who he was always available for and always put a smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Ruth (Jarvis) Henderson, one son Eric (Melissa) Henderson of Glendale, AZ and one daughter Janel (Mike) Sherwood of Flagstaff, AZ. Also four granddaughters, Amy (Kyle) Khuu of Phoenix, AZ and Alexis, Hallie, and Amariah Sherwood of Flagstaff, AZ. One grandson Michael (Sckylar) Henderson of Glendale, AZ. Finally, his great-granddaughter Adalynn (Kyle & Amy) Khuu of Phoenix, AZ.

Also survived by sister Cledith McCleese of Olive Hill, KY and brother Fred (Tressie) Henderson of Shelby, OH, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Thelma Rice, sister Linda Butler, and four brothers Artist, Willie Allen, Ollie, and Herbert Henderson.

Visitation will be Monday, June 13, 2022, 10am followed by service at 11am at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. Interment will conclude services at the Citizens' Cemetery, Flagstaff, AZ.
