Eugenia M. Horstman, nicknamed 'GG', of Flagstaff Arizona, died peacefully on August 25th 2021. She was 90 years old. GG is survived by her daughter Lara Connally, her grandchild Kai Forst, great-grandchild Alexandria Bailey, niece Diana Lelle and her partner Chuck Daehler, niece Erica Lelle and her children. GG is preceded in death by her parents Maye Lelle and Eugene 'Manny' Horstman, her sisters, Helen Horstman, Maryellen Spector, and her grandson Phelan Connally.

GG was born March 11th 1931 in Washington D.C., and lived on Capitol Hill for the first 7 years of her life. Her family was one of the pioneer families that moved into Greenbelt Maryland, the first of the New Deal Greenbelt Towns. She enjoyed playing with her friends in the nearby forest, where she developed her love of nature, and horses.

GG married twice, was divorced twice, and raised her daughter by herself.

GG received a B.A. in English Literature, with a Minor in Art History, from the University of Maryland. She worked 14 years as Editor of the National Parks Magazine, and founded Interpretive Publications, publishing historical books, and books about her favorite National Parks. GG moved to Flagstaff AZ in 1984, where she worked briefly as the editor of Plateau Magazine for the Museum of Northern Arizona. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start up her own typesetting business in downtown Flagstaff AZ called Prepress Graphics, and continued to produce and sell books with her publishing business until she retired.

GG had a love of nature, expressed through her true talent in art. She created a great number of paintings in oil and watercolor over her lifetime, many of these depicted the dramatic landscapes of Northern Arizona. GG met many of the world's top conservation scientists and authors during her professional career. She also had an interest in wild edible plants, Spanish lessons, and book clubs. GG lived a full, and interesting life.

In accordance with her wishes, a small outdoor memorial is being planned by her family. Friends may contact the family for more information.
