Flora Izetta (Vanover) Ward peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 25, 2010.

Flora was born on October 19, 1920 in Clintwood, Virginia, the first-born of Phillip Jefferson and Myrtle Lavona (Baker) Vanover. Flora is preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Louise Ward, her Father and Mother, Phillip Jefferson and Myrtle Lavona (Baker) Vanover, sister, Eva Lake (Vanover) Goscenski, two brothers, Creed Bradford Vanover and Rev. Phillip Jefferson Vanover, Jr.

Flora is survived by her daughter, Betty Sue (Ward) Dreaver, son-in-law Dale Dreaver, two granddaughters Lori (Dreaver) Munn (Matt), Lisa (Dreaver) Flake (Kevin), four great-grandchildren, Caitlin, James (Mack), Jacob (Jake) Munn and Harley Flake. She is also survived by four nieces, one nephew and several great nieces and great nephews.

She married Chester Tyrus Ward on July 19, 1938 and during WWII moved to Detroit, MI. Flora worked in the factories making airplane parts. She was one of the original "Rosie The Riveters". After WWII she was employed by Greenfield Restaurant as a waitress and retired after working over 30 years.

Flora and Chester loved to travel. She not only listened to country and western music, but loved to sing and dance. She also loved to shop and watch movies. Everyone that knew her, knew that she loved chocolate, enjoying it everyday. Flora's love for her family always came first in her life, caring for her Mother for over 60 years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Norvell-Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, AZ and Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home, Clintwood, Virgina where Flora's funeral services will be held at the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church and interment will be at Phipps Memorial Cemetary, Clintwood, Virginia.
