Obituary

George Hedrick, IV

George Hedrick of Decatur, GA, left his earthly body due to natural causes on October 24, 2018 in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. George was born in Memphis, TN to George and Mary Hedrick on November 29, 1951. Soon they moved to Farmers Branch, TX. George graduated from Briarwood Highschool in East Point, GA in 1970.

George was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending his extra time boating on many rivers in the Southeastern US and then later in the Western US. George first saw the Colorado River in 1967 with his parents and sister on a pack string. Later, in 1982 he'd take his first trip down the Colorado river. Five trips and 36 years later, he'd take his last.

George is survived by his daughter, Ashley and husband Shannon Browning (Livingston, MT), his son Austin Hedrick (Atlanta, GA), granddaughters Violet Lynn and Savannah Rose Browning, sister Linda Lawrence and husband Jimmy (Carrollton, GA), a niece and a nephew, his faithful dog Ziggy, and a whole wide world of friends who he loved as family.

A celebration of George's life is planned for November 29, 2018 at Chattooga River Resort and Campground in Long Creek, SC at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to his children, who he loved so much, as they face an uphill climb over the next few months, handling the logistics of wrapping up a life well lived.
