Harvey Maurice Golightly, age 83, of Flagstaff, passed away on January 11, 2008. He was born a native of Arizona family on September 21, 1924 in Mesa, Arizona. Harvey was a veteran of World War II of the United States Marine Corps., private first class rifle expert. He also served in several battles in the Pacific Theatre.

Harvey made his professional career as a law enforcement officer, beginning with the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office as a deputy in 1952. He continued his law enforcement career as Patrolman and retired from the Arizona Department of Public Safety in 1974 after 20 of service. Harvey then owned and operated Golightly's Towing Company in Flagstaff, Arizona for 11 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 35 in Phoenix, AZ.

Harvey was an avid hunter and fisherman of Arizona's lakes. He loved sharing with and teaching his children and grandchildren about the beauty of Arizona's great outdoors. In addition, Harvey particularly enjoyed King Salmon fishing off the coast of Eureka, California.

Harvey was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his devoted wife Joyce of 62 years, and his children, Michael Golightly (Susan) of Flagstaff, Virginia Manterola (Joe), of Clarkdale, and David Golightly (Maria), of Holbrook, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and brother, Kenneth Golightly of Denison, Texas.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lloyd Golightly of Forestburg, TX, grandson Joe Manterola III of Casa Grande, AZ and granddaughter Jamie Golightly of Flagstaff, AZ.

Harvey was dearly loved and will be greatly miss by all those who knew him. His celebration of life will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2007 at Norvel Owens Mortuary 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to services on Monday morning. Burial will follow at the Citizens Cemetery, Veteran's Section.
