Helen P. Haver, 93, who was a Flagstaff resident since 1961, died on March 24, 2010, in Phoenix at the Beatitudes. She was born in Tontogany, Ohio, on July 4, 1916, to Allen and Katie Park. She married Elmer C. "Duke" Haver in 1938; he preceded her in death in 1981. Her sisters Lucile and Joyce also preceded her in death.
Helen is survived by her sons Steven (Judy) of Las Vegas, NV, and Mark (Sherri) of Holbrook; her daughter Jane Behrens (David) of Phoenix; her grandchildren Michael Behrens (Carol) of Wickenburg, Mary Behrens of Scarborough, ME, Sarah Behrens (fiancé Dean Randall) of Yorba Linda, CA, and Elizabeth Vessey (Aaron) of Tempe; her great-grandchildren David, Emily, and John Behrens of Wickenburg.
Helen was a long-time teacher at the Flagstaff and Coconino high schools. She was a member of the Federated Community Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, traveling, and playing duplicate bridge.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Norvel Owens Mortuary has handled arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to the Flagstaff Public Library Foundation, 300 W.
