Irene Catherine (Cathy) Lowenberg

FLAGSTAFF - Irene Catherine Schneider, affectionately known as Cathy, was born on February 1, 1953, in El Paso, Texas, to Irene and Julius Lowenberg Jr. She  peacefully departed this life on February 8, 2024, in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Cathy was a loving sister to Julius III (Camille),  Debbie (Ruben Gallegos), Veronica (Danny Meneses), Eric (Angie), and Eileen (George Palomino). She adored her nieces and nephews, and her presence brought joy and warmth to their lives. Cathy was the devoted mother of Maricel (Jesse Causer) and Larry (Lisa) and the proud grandmother of Dahlia and Emilio Causer.

Cathy earned her degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, a testament to her dedication to education and learning. She served a full career within the public education system, carrying forward a cherished family tradition of public education service. Cathy had a rich tapestry of interests that included sports, arts and crafts, music (especially playing guitar and singing), and writing. She found solace and delight in the traditions of Christmas, the beauty of the snowy weather in the pines, and the spirited contests of Notre Dame's Fighting Irish football.

Born and raised in El Paso, Cathy called Flagstaff her home for over a decade where she was able to be near her grandchildren as they grew.. She was deeply rooted in her Mexican Catholic heritage and found strength and comfort in her spirituality.

Cathy's life was marked by love, warmth, and compassion. She was deeply connected to her large family and treasured her friendships dearly. Her enduring spirit and kind heart will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In the gentle words of Cathy,  "Sueños con los angelitos - Sleep with the angels."
