Obituary

Irvin Murphy

Irvin Murphy, 68, died early Sunday morning on October 29, 2006 in Flagstaff, AZ. Murphy was born Sept 18,1938 in Cheneyville, Louisiana to Earl Murphy and Josephine Howard. Murphy spent
his youth in Louisiana before venturing out west (to Flagstaff) around 1958. Murphy loved Flagstaff. During his early years in Flagstaff, Murphy worked as a cook at Yiya's, and the Gables as well as being employed by the City of Flagstaff. Murphy then spent several years in Houston, Texas before returning to Flagstaff in the late 80's where he worked at the Adobe Grill and Malone's Bakery.

Murphy lived downtown and was well known by many people. His outgoing personality and ability to make people laugh earned him many friends. Even through his
illness, Murphy was always more concerned with the well being of others than himself. He was always optimistic and was looking forward to getting back on his feet. Murphy will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know or work with him.

Murphy is survived by his five children: Denise, Charles, Eric and Athena; his grandson, Robert Meeks III, and many nephews and nieces.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Norvel Owens Mortuary. The funeral service will be held
Thursday at 10AM, also at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66.
