James Frank Mack, 94, died March 5, 2013 from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Spencerville, OH on June 17, 1918 to Mabel and George Mack.
Mack graduated from Indiana Tech with a degree in engineering during WWII and immediately went to work for Aeroproducts Division of General Motors where he did design work on the P51 airplane. He later spent many years designing rocket engines for Rocketdyne in Southern California for the Gemini and Apollo Space Programs.
In 1968 he and his wife Elaine moved to Flagstaff to start their own company, Mack Corporation which they owned for 44 years.
Mack is a member of the Rockwell Management Club, Flagstaff Lodge #7 F & AM, Scottish Rite 32 degree, El Zaribah Shrine, a lifetime member of the Confederate Air Force, and the Alumni Association of Indiana Tech. In addition, he had a private pilot's license.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine, daughters Sue Manrose, Park Ridge, IL, Stacey McEnnan, Westlake Village, CA and Missy Whitehead (Jim), Flagstaff, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, March 9th, 2103 at 10 am at Federated Church, 400 W. Aspen Ave., Flagstaff, AZ. The family suggests a contribution to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
