It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Fuhriman Maughan on October 1, 2024, in Parks, Arizona, at the age of 83. Janet was born on April 4, 1941, in Logan Utah, to Darvel Miller and Ida Lorene (Robins) Fuhriman. Janet grew up in a loving home in Franklin, Idaho where she was a big sister, developed her love of music, and played the piano.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Newell Maughan. The couple met at Utah State University and were sealed in the LDS Temple in Logan, Utah on June 3, 1960. Their life together led them to live in several different places until 1971, when they settled in Arizona. During their 19 years together, they were blessed with five children, and enjoyed camping with friends.

She is survived by her only brother, Scott Darvel (Kelly) Fuhriman of Key West, Florida, as well as her children, LoriAnn (Chad) Krewson, JanNeil Moore of Arizona, Elizabeth (Elliott) Ellsworth of California, Curtis Newell Maughan of Kansas, and Keri (Jim) Flynn of Arizona. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Janet served faithfully for many years in the Relief Society Presidency and Stake Primary Presidency, even after a major stroke in 1987 that left her paralyzed on one side.  Her determination never wavered, and she continued to do the things she loved, including serving her community, watching her grandchildren's many sporting events around the country, visiting The Great Wall of China, and working for the Maricopa Elections Department. Her deep patriotism and love of country were values she passed on to her family.

A graveside service will be held at the Wellsville Utah Cemetery on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the American Stroke Foundation at https://www.stroke.org
