Jimmie Knight was born October 31, 1937, in Gray Mountain, Arizona. He attended Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma. He completed his trade in carpentry in 1954. After a few years working in construction after completing school in Oklahoma he returned to Arizona. He then met Betty Knight, married, and had 8 kids. He worked a few years in Cameron, AZ and helped build the Cameron Chapter House. In 1970, he began his lifelong career for the National Park Service in Grand Canyon, Arizona. He retired after 47 years of service on June 29, 2017, as an Engineer Master Carpenter.

"Big Jim" believed in hard work, hard lessons, and overcoming obstacles with your own will. He was a man of few words, a perfectionist in carpentry projects, stern, but full of wisdom.

Jimmie Knight passed away on September 29, 2023. He will be survived by Betty Knight, 8 kids: Johnny Robbins, Esther Bitsui, Rita Skeet, Raymond Knight, Alta Knight, Jimmy Knight Jr., Pauline Kendall, Leeta Knight, 21 grandchildren, and 18 great grand kids.

Services were Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Norvel Owens Mortuary with interment at Citizens' Cemetery.
