Jimmy Pettit made his final journey home on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.

Jimmy was born June 25, 1939, in Parks, Arkansas to Ben and Lorene Pettit. He grew up in and around Parks, AR with his older sister Daphine and younger brother Billy Ray. He had many fond memories growing up in Arkansas, such as going to school without shoes and rubbing his feet on the dirt floors and watching people hog for catfish.

Jimmy moved to Williams in 1953 with his parents and younger brother. He attended Williams schools and graduated in 1958. He married the love of his life, Linda Louise Hughes, in 1959. A year later, Tim was born, followed by Anita, Johnny, Joanna, and Jeff. His family was his life, and he loved his family dearly.

He was a lifelong carpenter dedicating 30 years to Carpenters Union 1100 in Flagstaff, AZ, constructing hundreds of large and small commercial projects, residential subdivisions, and single-family homes, mostly in Northern Arizona.

From 1969 through the 1980's Jimmy & his wife Linda donated many years to youth baseball, coaching Little League and 13 to 18 year-old major teams - taking four of those teams to Regional District playoffs in New Mexico and California. Jimmy and Linda had a passion for spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, which for Jimmy began as a boy and continued throughout his life, passing along his love for it and his experiences to his children to great-grandchildren. Jimmy also enjoyed time with friends square dancing, playing cards, and beating many at billiards, among other sports, hobbies, and pastimes. Nothing was more important than enjoying life with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children Tim (Debra) Pettit and Anita Pettit (Ian James), both of Williams, AZ; his companion of 10 years Allene Childress; nine grandchildren Travis (Ashley) Schulte, Nichole (Mike) Kennelly, Kevin Schulte, Melissa (Mario) Orozco, Christina (DJ) Mongeau, Jenise Pettit, Kassie Pettit, Carisa Stilwell and Joshua Pettit; and 17 great grandchildren Austin, Athena and Ashlynn Kennelly, Kadance, Kenzie, Paisley and Treston Orozco, Baylee Schulte, Jessah and Karsen Smith and Baby Case due in November, Kennedy and Hayden Perdue, Brennen and Rowan Mongeau, and Tristan, Arabella and Alexander Schulte; beloved Sister-in-Law Jo Lawlor, Sister-in-law Vicki Causey, and Brother-in-Law Bob Findley. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 47 years Linda, parents Ben and Lorene, brother Billy Ray Pettit, sister Daphine Holleman and brother-in-law Herman Holleman, sister-in-law Phyllis Morales, brother-in-law Victor "Sonny" Hughes, children Johnny, Joanna, and Jeff Pettit, and great granddaughter Karlee Schulte, among many other family and friends.

Viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m. and memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the First Baptist Church located at 629 W. Grant Ave. in Williams. A grave side service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at the American Legion, 425 W. Grant Ave. A contribution of a potluck dish would be greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Jimmy's name to Williams High School athletics or Williams Little League.
