John Richard
Heguy
Nov 4, 1945 — Sep 1, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we share the unexpected passing of John Richard "Dick" Heguy on September 1, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on November 4, 1945, in New York City, New York, Dick was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, proud veteran, passionate fisherman, and loyal friend. He was known for his unwavering integrity, generous heart, sharp wit, and lifelong dedication to helping others.
Dick honorably served his country in the Vietnam War with the 1st Air Cavalry, receiving the Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Heart Medals for wounds received in combat. Following his military service, he devoted 28 years to the City of Flagstaff as a firefighter, serving as a Battalion and Deputy Chief, and retired from his distinguished career in public service in 2003.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna; his two children, Jenna and Nathan (Amber); and his two grandchildren, Ava and Brock.
He is also survived by his siblings, Suzanne (Terry) Dodd and Peter (Sona) Heguy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Dorothea Heguy.
Dick will be remembered for his dedication to family, selflessness, and his passion for service. His impact will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him, were transformed by him, and who loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family would be honored by donations made in Dick's memory to the ALS Association Arizona Chapter or the Arizona Burn Foundation.
