John Willden "Jack" Hardy, of Flagstaff, died May 8, 2009, at the age of 91.

Mr. Hardy was born on June 17, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After his return, he married Alta Heller, the love of his life, and shortly thereafter they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. It was there that he established a career in home interiors, first owning an upholstery shop and, later, a furniture store he called "Jacardi's." Over the years, the family lived in Ventura, California, and Phoenix, Arizona, where Mr. Hardy successfully operated similar businesses. He always preferred working for himself.

In the early 1970s, he and his wife built one of the first homes in the Continental Country Club neighborhood of Flagstaff. He and his wife enjoyed many international trips together. Among his favorite pastimes were golf and playing cards with family. He was also an avid fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phoenix Suns, and the Arizona Cardinals.

Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alta of Flagstaff; daughters JoAnn (L.A.) Wilson of Duncansville, PA, Amy (Mike) Wilkinson of Phoenix, and Allyn (John) Barefield of Flagstaff; sons J.B. (Karen) of Phoenix, and Jim (Sandi) of Ventura, CA; sister Velma Boyce of Hartford, TN; brothers Andy of St. George, UT, and Paul of Enoch, UT; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
