Kathryn Louise Mathews Hulls

Her father taught, coached basketball and became Superintendant in Oklahoma where she was born and spent the first part of her life. After her father entered the Army and was later drafted and entered the Navy, her Mom moved Kathryn and her brother to Gallup, NM where she attended Jr. High for a short stay. They then moved to Flagstaff, AZ where her dad joined them following the end of World War II. She attended Flagstaff High School and graduated in 1947 where she met her future husband, Forrest. They were married in 1950. They were married for 34 years before Forrest passed away in 1984. She taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades at Kinsey Elementary School for 26 years before retiring.
She is survived by her 2 sons, 1 daughter in law, 6 grandkids plus spouses, and 16 great-grandkids.
She was blessed to see all of her grandkids and great-grandkids within the last 2 months of her life including a 5,800 mile road trip through 22 states. This trip brought back memories of when she used to drive her elderly parents and aunt on road trips across the country. During the last weeks of her life she expressed her appreciation in being able to see all of her grandkids and great-grandkids again. She also was able to attend her oldest great-granddaughter's high school graduation in Idaho in May. She had commented that she had attended all of her grandkids high school graduations and was now starting on her great-grandkids graduations.
She lived independently next door to Brent until April of this year when she moved into Highgate Senior Living. She enjoyed making new friends there and having conversations with them and also attending a Bible study, chair aerobics and other activities there.
In Flagstaff, she attended First Baptist Church (now Flagstaff Christian Fellowship) where she accepted Christ as her Savior in high school under the leadership of Dr. Richard Beal and Flagstaff Evangelical Free Church. For the past 6 years she attended Grace Community Church.
She was greatly loved by all of her family and will be severely missed, but she had commented on a number of occasions that she was ready to meet her Lord and Savior and had no fear of death.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be given to Grace Community Church Building Fund which Kathryn was looking forward to seeing completed.
