Kristin "Kris" Mary Weishapl Burton passed away November 16th, 2008 in Tucson, AZ.

Kris was born in Wayne, MI to Jerry and Sandy Weishapl on September 13, 1963. She moved with her family to Arizona in 1968, and lived in Doney Park, where her and her sister Julie raised livestock in 4-H and participated in gymkhanas. She graduated from Coconino High School in 1981. She moved to Tucson in 1992, where she met the love of her life, Don Burton. They were married in 2001.

Kris had a zest for life, her smile was contagious and there was no one who didn't enjoy being around her. She loved to spend her time either out side hiking, camping, and canoeing or sitting in her backyard with friends and family drinking margaritas.

Kris was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2002. While her battle with cancer was a long and hard one, she ultimately beat it in the end. During her fight with Leukemia, Kris went in to remission for almost 5 years. The news that the cancer had retuned did not deter Kris' faith in God or her will to survive. Once again Kris was ready to fight and fight she did, with the help of her sister Julie's stem cells, she won the battle. Although Kris was cancer free, in the end she died due to complications from the stem cell transplant. We are all very proud of Kris. Her passing left a void in the lives of many and will be missed dearly.

Kris is survived by her beloved husband of 7 years, on of Tucson; three daughters, Tessa Burton of Tucson, Markio Burton (Bob Kearns) of Tucson, Laurel Burton of Chicago; her mother Sandy Weishapl of Flagstaff; one sister Julie Drinkard (Lloyd) of Flagstaff, five nieces, one nephew, three great nieces and one great nephew, her beloved Winnie and Maggie and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Jerry Weishapl.

A celebration of her life will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at Norvel Owens Mortuary.
