Obituary

Larry Joe Rougemont Sr., of Peoria, AZ, passed away on August 14, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family and a few members of a compassionate medical team from the Mayo Clinic. Larry was a U.S. Army and Vietnam War Veteran, born in Grants, NM on December 29, 1947. He graduated from Flag High in 1965 and earned a Business degree from Northern Arizona University in 1972. For 46 years, he worked as a well-respected and successful agent for State Farm Insurance. Larry was married to his loving wife, Frances, for 53 years. He was very giving and charitable and deeply family-oriented, trusted and loved by family, friends and associates alike. Larry was known to enjoy dancing and playing Mexican music, often turning any room in the house into a dance floor. He was a beaming grandfather of seven grandchildren who truly believed their Popie hung the moon. He was immensely proud of his three successful children. He enjoyed fishing in the White Mountains, playing horseshoes with family from New Mexico and golfing just about anywhere.

Larry is survived by Frances, his wife; Corine Syed (Khaiser Syed), his daughter; Yvette Blake (Bill Blake), his daughter; L.J. Rougemont (Stacy Rougemont), his son; Bea Sedillo, his sister; Leonard Rougemont, his brother; and seven grandchildren:

Lola, Sophia, William, Isabella, Ava, Cezar and Zara.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Jose Rougemont and his beloved mother, Isabel; and his brothers, Freddie and Louie Rougemont.

A funeral service for Larry will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at The Church of the Nativity located at 16 W. Cherry Avenue, Flagstaff, AZ. (Please allow extra time as parking may be challenging.) A Rosary will be said at 10:00AM with a Mass to follow at 10:30AM.

A burial with military honors will be held after mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery located at 201 W. University Drive.

Pease join the family for a reception at Little America at 2:00PM. There will be an opportunity to share memories and stories of Larry at that time.
