LILLIAN HICKEY HALL
Born January 18, 1923 in Phoenix, Arizona, to John R. and Lillian M. Hickey, and following a short illness, passed away on December 10, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. As a young child, Lillian and her family spent summers in Flagstaff (from 1926 to 1930), in 1930 her family moved full time to live and call Flagstaff home.
Lillian graduated from Flagstaff's Emerson School as an eighth grader and from Flagstaff High School in 1940, having earned numerous scholastic and civic awards. She married Virgil Hall on October 6, 1944; their union being blessed with four children - John, Rayma, Tony and James Wade. Her husband pre-deceased her in July 1973. All four children are her survivors, along with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Lillian contributed greatly to her community being involved in Scouting, Little League, many civic organizations, including Soroptimist International, the City of Flagstaff Historical Sites Commission, The Raymond Foundation, as well as a Board Member of various government and educational institutions. She also served Coconino County in various capacities - County Attorney's Office, Superior Court, Law Librarian, County School Office, Chief Deputy Clerk of Superior Court and as Coconino County Treasurer. She retired from Coconino County Government after 28 years of dedicated service.
Family was always Lillian's first love, with travel a close second, and education third.
Lillian's pride in her family was absolute. With a special place in her heart for visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Following her retirement, along with her sister, Mary Ellen, they spent three wonderful years travelling through the entire continental United States and Canada by motor home. In addition to traveling to all 50 states and much of Canada, Lillian also traveled abroad, visiting 21 foreign countries.
Lillian was also very proud of helping others pursue their education. Her family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be directed to the Lillian Hall Scholarship Fund, c/o NAU Foundation, P.O. Box 4094 Flagstaff, AZ.
Services will be 2pm, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Norvel Owens Mortuary
