Obituary

Lurlyne Young Farr, 79, of Mesa, wife to the late Thomas Earl Farr, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 30 May 2021 in her Mesa home with daughters nearby. Born on 8 October 1941 in Mesa, Arizona, Lurlyne is the second of six children to Martin Ray Young Jr. and Elizabeth (Taylor). Enjoying a happy childhood, she graduated from Mesa High and dated her sweetheart, Earl, while attending Arizona State University. They were married 9 August 1962 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They lived and served in Holbrook, Arizona for 16 years and Kaysville, Utah for 33 joyful years. Earl and Lurlyne relocated to Mesa celebrating 57 years of marriage before Earl's passing in fall 2019. A loving wife, dedicated mother, loyal sister, and thoughtful friend, she was often found on the phone enjoying a conversation with loved ones while working around her home.  She adored her children and grandchildren, enabling their hopes and dreams. Earl and Lurlyne prioritized attending the important milestones of friends and family. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lurlyne's faith in Jesus Christ anchored her throughout life.  She cherished her missionary service with Earl in Kirtland, Ohio. Lurlyne delighted in music, an accomplished pianist, teaching many youth to play piano. She sewed hundreds of high school choir outfits and many of her daughters' formal dresses. She loved dancing with Earl and holding his hand. She was a voracious reader, favoring fiction.  A gracious hostess, her home was often filled with guests who enjoyed her open, happy manner and delicious cooking. Lurlyne had a good memory for names and important details. Any who visited with her soon found an engaging friend.

Preceded in death by her parents Ray and Beth; siblings Jeanette (Ronald) Standage and Linda;  husband Earl;  and daughter Julie Natalia Farr.

Surviving are her siblings Cynthia (the late Loren) Willis, DeAnn (Peter) McCune, and Ronald Ray; eight children Rebecca Ann (Jonathan) Jackson, Martin Earl Farr; Catherine Lyn (Mikel) Nybo, Lanae Beth (Brett) Duersch, Patricia Kay (Timothy) LaRue, Thomas Kent (Melissa) Farr, Nathan Dean (Samantha) Farr, Sharon Maria (Kelvin) Wursten; her forty-one grandchildren; and her nine great-grand children.  Her family takes comfort in loving memories and hope of a joyful reunion in the next life.
