Marc Stephen
Davis
Jan 22, 1950 — Apr 26, 2018
Flagstaff
Marc Stephen Davis, 68, of Flagstaff Arizona, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 26, 2018.
He was born on January 22, 1950 in Glen Cove, New York to Simon Israel Davis and Edith Loraine (Bowen) Davis.
Marc grew up on Long Island, NY. He studied mathematics at Clarkson University, one of the top engineering schools in the country, and learned drafting, design and building working under the expert supervision of many professionals on the U.S. east coast. Early on, Marc realized he wanted a change from New York's large metropolitan area, came west to Arizona in 1970, and found his home in the mountains of the Flagstaff area in 1972.
Marc was a very successful General Contractor and business owner. For more than 40 years he built and remodeled commercial and residential properties and was a highly regarded and sought-after contractor, specializing in custom homebuilding. In 1995, Marc established North Country Construction, Inc. and continued commercial building, new home design and construction, remodeling, room additions, and tenant repairs. He knew what it took to move water during the monsoon months, eliminate winter snow buildup, and how to identify the best locations for new homes on undeveloped property. His work can be seen in Forest Highlands, Pine Canyon, Flagstaff Ranch, Lake Side Acres, the Country Club area, and Kachina Village.
Marc was a FAMILY man and active community volunteer. He raised his three children in Flagstaff, coached youth baseball, softball and soccer teams for many years, and was recognized in 1990 as Volunteer of the Year with Flagstaff Little League Baseball.
Marc loved everything related to New York, especially his beloved NY Yankees. He had a passion for humming birds and enjoyed making them special food, while watching and listening to his "happy hummers" for hours on end. He enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Scrabble and UPWORDS, which were his favorite games; and Christy will tell you it didn't matter which game they played because HE would usually WIN!
Marc was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Marc is survived by his wife, Christy, and her children, Whitney (Santos) Tapia, Renda (BJ) Fisk and four grandchildren; his Mother-in-law, Mary Ann Roberts; his first wife, Gayle Davis, and their children Adam (Renee) Davis, Matthew (Kamie) Davis, Jeanne (Davawn) Peterson and eight grandchildren; his sister Barbara Harlow and her children Corey Harlow, Marc Harlow and her three grandchildren; his brother Dan Davis and his children Justin Davis, Daniel (Ashley) Davis and many more loving family and friends.
An open house Celebration of Marc's Life will be held at the home of Marc and Christy Davis, 4070 S. Nicholas St. in Flagstaff on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.
