Margaret Ann (Lucey) Dudevoir, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at The Peaks in Flagstaff Arizona.

Marge was born on 31 December 1931 to Thomas Raymond Lucey and Ethel (Henry) Lucey in Worcester, Massachusetts.  She had 2 sisters at that time, Marie and Dorothy (Dot).  She would subsequently have 2 brothers, Walter and Jimmy.

At the age of 6 she matriculated into Upsala Elementary school.  At the age of 12 she enrolled in Spring Street Junior High.  At the age of 14 she started at Commerce High.  Her best friend in High School was Evelyn Vee who was a hard worker like Marge.  Upon graduation from High School, she enrolled in the School of Nursing at Worcester City Hospital.  Upon graduation in 1952, she received the award for the Most Compassionate in her class of 45 nurses.  Her caring for people never wavered.

She met Gerry Dudevoir in 1953 at a dance at Worcester City Hospital.  She was intrigued by his irresistible charm, handsome looks and good manners.  They were married June 25, 1955, in Worcester.  They went to Quebec on their honeymoon.  In May of 1956 Marge and Gerry had their first child, Glen Paul Dudevoir.  Marge delivered their second son, Douglas  on June 10, 1957.  Marge had a third son, Kevin, in 1960 and a fourth son, Scott, in 1963.  And in 1968 Marge and Gerry had their first daughter, Julie!

In 1964 the family moved to Hanover, NH where Gerry started pursuing a Doctorate in engineering at Dartmouth College.  Their life in Hanover was idyllic. Marge managed four crazy sons and an infant daughter.  They all lived in a 750 square foot house but lived like kings.  Marge gave them free reign to ride their bikes everywhere.  She raised her kids to be outside in the real world exploring and learning how to deal with people, solve problems and never give up.

The family moved to Nashua NH in 1968 where Gerry went to work for Sanders Associates.  And, Marge became the best baker on the planet.  A typical Thanksgiving would include a mince-meat pie, a pumpkin pie, a pumpkin chiffon pie, an apple pie, a cherry pie, a meat pie, a rhubarb pie, a rhubarb strawberry pie, chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin roll, cranberry nut bread, cinnamon roll and chocolate chip cup cakes with cream cheese; and this is when she was tired.

Marge also assisted in many house projects.  Her yard work is legendary.  She would go out to cut one bush and we would turn around and most of the shrubs in the back yard had become bonsai trees.

She continued to manage the family trips every Sunday in the summer to parks at Hampton Beach, Sunapee, Greenfield State Park, the Cape, Rye Beach and others.  These started with lots of water activities and games of "run-down," and they always finished with a cookout on a wood fire with hot dogs, hamburgers and toasted marshmallows.  And, there were  annual camping trips to places like Moosehead Lake, Rangely Lake, Otter Lake and Pawtuckaway State Park.

Once the kids had all left home they moved to Ocean View Lane in Mattapoisett Massachusetts.  They loved this spot.  They hosted many great family get togethers here.  All of these included a cook-out.  Most included Baci Ball and wiffle ball (less the Christmas ones).  And on Independence Day there was a Bike Parade.  Marge loved it when others were having fun be it while engaged in Baci Ball, poker, wiffle ball, hearts, croque or badminton.

While at Ocean View Mom and dad made frequent trips to Martha's Vineyard.  They loved taking the ferry across Vineyard Sound from Woods Hole.

In January 2020 they moved to Flagstaff AZ where Scott and his wife Corey resided. Gerry passed away on 5 February 2020.  The Wuhan Virus swamped the world in March.  When the Wuhan Virus ran its course, she got out, engaged and when visitors came to visit she never turned down an opportunity to explore Flagstaff and Northern Arizona.

Our Mom's caregivers included the staffs of The Peaks, SugarNSpice, Synergy HomeCare, Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff Integrated Therapies,  Angels Care Home Health and Maggie's Hospice, who all loved her and cared for her with expertise and compassion.

Her caring and compassion impressed all who met her until the day Marge left us to go to heaven.

She is survived by Glen, Doug, Scott and Julie Dudevoir, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at San Francisco de Asis Roman Catholic Church in Flagstaff at 10 AM.  Interment will follow at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Camp Navajo.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Running Strong for American Indian Youth (Billy Mills founder / URL: https://indianyouth.org/who-we-are/billy-mills/).
